Laying Down Drill Pipe...
When a section of a well is complete,drilling stops,the hole is circulated clean of cuttings and a string of casing is run into the well and cemented into place.Before casing is run into the well the drill string is laid down, joint by joint.Afterwards,when the well is cased,a new string of smaller drill pipe is picked up and a smaller diameter hole is continued on to the next point of casing. This video shows a crew of Roughnecks laying down drill pipe in preperation for this.
