Oilfield Memorial
Oilfield accidents claim the lives of far to may each year around the world.Any loss of life in the oilfield is a tragedy,but far to often it seems death takes the youngest members of our profession.I can think of nothing more sad than these young men being cheated out of life and their wives and children being denied that father that they love and need. Another Tribute to Doug..
Doug was a great friend and co-worker and taught me a great deal and i am proud to say that he was a huge part of making me the hand I am today and for that I will always be grateful. There is a certain pride that goes along with round tripping 12, 13 or 14,000 feet of drill pipe out of the hole and all the blood sweat and hard work that goes into making a well that produces oil or gas. Not just any one can go out to a rig and be come a roughneck we are a different breed of man. Doug taught me about that and the pride that comes from being the type of man we are. He taught me that on the rig we look out for one another. That is what family does and in my eyes we are all family of the iron. So on behalf of all our brothers and from one to another... we love and miss you Doug!!! One day we will meet again! By the way bro, I'm back out on rig 6.

Just wanted to pay respects to a driller I had this past winter in the Alberta oil patch.i don't currently have a scanner to put a picture of Pat up so I apologize. Pat passed away this summer in Medicine Hat Alberta. Pat and I didn't get along when we first met (understatement), I was his roughneck, after a bit things changed and we got along great. Pat was old school and he seemed to like my crude-(understatement) sense of humor. One time Pat had a lazy derrickhand lipping him off, so I took some crap and convinced the derrickhand it was coming off the shaker, the derrickhand was sure mad when he figured out it wasn't mud, that sure made pat laugh! Pat passed away at home do to health problems.He was a good driller.RIP Pat Boyd-July/2007. -Shrek

John A. Morriss was the hardest working and most respected man in the oilfields here in North Texas. He worked on the rigs for over twenty years, before sustaining a debilitating injury to his back. His back was crushed and he had to leave the oilfield in 1992. However, my husband and brother-in-law, followed in their Dad's footsteps to the oilfield. On June 30,2005, my father-in-law was murdered at work. He was shot once in the head, and they have yet to find his killer. He was the type of man who would take people, who never had anyone, and give them a chance. He was the most caring and giving man. Rest in peace Dad. We all love and miss you so much.
