Bottom Hole Assembly BHA Video
The basic bottom-hole assembly (BHA)
is the component of the drill string that includes the various subs, and the drill collars, stabalizers and drill bit. It hangs below the drill pipe and provides weight to the drill bit to drill the hole.Weight is applied to the bit by releasing drill string tension or “slacking-off weight.” Often Downhole Motors or Mud Motors are run in the BHA as well as MWD / LWD tools and Non Magnetic Drill Collars.
